scored with 2:34 left in the first overtime period to give the Lynchburg
College men's lacrosse team an 11-10 win against Franklin & Marshall College
Saturday evening in a game played at Fairfax High School.
LC trailed 10-9 in the fourth period before freshman Billy McCulloch (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) scored from Joe Matta (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) with 5:49 left on the game clock. Franklin & Marshall won the face-off to begin overtime, but sophomore goalie Chris Johnson (Chantilly, VA/Centreville) made a save to give LC possession. Following a time-out, junior Paul Venturella (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) found Campbell for the game-winner. McCulloch scored four goals, while Kevin Reinecke (Crofton, MD/Arundel) had three goals and an assist. Sophomore Brandon Childs (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) had four assists and one score, while Rob Onda (Sykesville, MD/South Carroll) and Chase Gompers (Crofton, MD/Arundel) had a score apiece. Johnson made 12 saves. F&M falls to 2-2 on the season. Bas Solleveld had four goals for the Diplomats, while Jon Singer added three. The Hornets improve to 3-1 and host Stevens Tech Wednesday at 3 p.m. on Shellenberger Field. |
