| COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Noah Wilkinsky cashed in on Franklin & Marshall’s 39th shot of the night to deliver a 7-6 overtime win at Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) play Wednesday night. The victory snapped F&M’s three-game skid and gave the Diplomats (3-5, 1-2 CC) their first CC win of the season. Wilkinsky scooped up a loose ball and fired it home on the Diplomats’ second possession of overtime. He had missed the cage on two shots in the waning seconds of a scoreless fourth quarter. The Diplomats were off-target on 21 shots in the game. F&M’s defense limited the Bears (36, 1-3 CC) to 14 shots on the night. The game was one of runs with the Diplomats jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first 11:30 of the game, only to watch the Bears storm back with five-straight to take a two-goal lead into the half. F&M reeled off three-straight in the third quarter to reclaim a 6-5 lead, only to see that answered late in the third. Freshman Kevin Kilpatrick started and finished the Diplomats’ scoring in regulation. He got F&M on the board with help from classmate Colin McKew 3:51 into the game. He scored again with 3:23 left in the third quarter. Six different Diplomats accounted for F&M’s seven goals. Mark Hild registered a goal and an assist. Ursinus got on the board with 4:15 on the clock in the first as Pat Nagle scored unassisted. Eric Farris then scored the first of his two goals in the first half. Catching net with 2:47 left on an assist from Nagle. Chris Marcozzi stopped six of Ursinus’ shots on the night. His efforts helped the Diplomats improve to 6-2 in the series with the Bears. Ursinus had won the previous two meetings. |
