| 3-20-10 GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tyler Midwinter scored five goals and assisted three others in visiting Randolph-Macon College’s 18-6 win over Guilford College in both teams’ Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse opener Saturday. Jake Leddy added four goals and two assists for the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 1-0 ODAC). He scored three times and assisted another goal in the first half, which saw the Randolph-Macon race to a 9-2 lead. Taylor Wicke tallied two of his three scores in the first half. Wicke netted his third goal to start the scoring in the third quarter. Josh Merwin, Leddy and Midwinter followed as the Yellow Jackets’ margin swelled to 13-2. Guilford’s Chris Sisk ended Randolph-Macon’s 10-1 run with a man-up goal at the 2:11 mark of the third quarter. The Yellow Jackets had eight-different goal scorers, including Merwin, who had two tallies. Randolph-Macon outshot the Quakers (0-8, 0-1 ODAC), 47-30, and held a 41-32 edge in ground balls. Adam Liberto made nine saves and yielded three goals in three quarters of goaltending work. Guilford’s Daniel Dowd scored a team-high three points on two goals and an assist. Sisk finished with two scores. Junior defender Charlie Robinson had a game- and career-high nine ground balls and caused three turnovers for the Quakers. Junior Mark Guillen made 15 saves in goal, his seventh game with 11 or more saves. The Quakers are back in action Thursday (3/25) against visiting Otterbein College at 4:00 p.m. -30- |
