Guilford vs. Wooster

The Game Story:
Junior Eric McKinney and freshman Conor Hannan combined to score seven goals and dish out four assists as The College of Wooster (2-1) men's lacrosse team ran away from Guilford College (2-2) 16-6 in non-conference action from Greensboro, N.C.

McKinney jump started the visitors by scoring the first and third scores of the game with Hannan's first score of the day coming in between, as Wooster jumped out to the early 3-0 lead at the conclusion of the first period.

After Guilford got on the board with a goal by Todd Bochenek just under a minute into the second period, Hannan assisted on back-to-back goals by Austin Taylor and Chris Vaccaro less than a minute apart, to push Wooster's lead to four (5-1) at 9:41. The Scots scored three more goals by Hannan, Vaccaro, and McKinney, respectively, taking an 8-3 lead after two periods.

The Quakers made a comeback at the end of the second period and the beginning of the third, scoring four of five goals to cut the lead to 9-6. But Hanan stopped the run at the 2:51 mark in the third stanza, scoring his third goal of the day, as Wooster reeled off a 7-0 run to close out the game, including two scores by junior Shawn Handy. `

Wooster held a decisive advantage on the attack, outshooting the Quakers 51-20 for the game, including 18-3 in the final period.

McKinney scored for the third consecutive game this season, netting four goals in addition to passing out one assist, while Hannan registered three goals and three assists to lead the Scots with six points. Also tallying multiple goals were Taylor and Vaccaro with three a piece, while Handy added two and one helper.

Junior Alex Morriss accounted for the other Scot score, in addition to picking up an assist and a team-high seven ground balls.

Wooster goalie Courter Shimeall played all 60 minutes in the net, allowing six goals, while making 10 saves.

Matt Wagner and Bochenek led the Quakers with two scores each.
