The Game Story:
Greensboro, N.C. (2/23/08) – Steve Roy scored four goals and John Gaeta added three as visiting York (Pa.) College scored a 15-4 men’s lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday in the season-opener for both teams.

The Spartans (1-0) jumped out to a 6-1 halftime lead as six different students dent the twine in the first 30 minutes. Roy ripped off a natural hat trick, which gave the guests a 10-2 advantage early in the fourth quarter.

York (Pa.) enjoyed a 63-30 advantage in shots and took advantage of 33 Quakers’ (0-1) turnovers. Dan Wood forced three of Guilford’s miscues and shared team-high honors with five ground balls. Matt Keeler played the first three quarters in goal for the Spartans and made 12 saves.

Tyler Zivic’s one goal and one assist paced Guilford’s offense. Andrew Vigne made 21 saves in goal for the Quakers.

Guilford returns to action Friday (2/29) against visiting St. John Fisher College at 4:00 p.m. York (Pa.) visits Washington and Lee University Wednesday (2/27) night at 7:00 p.m.
