Hamilton vs. Nazareth

The Game Story:
CLINTON, N.Y. (March 24, 2007) -- Visiting Nazareth used a balancing scoring attack to defeat Hamilton 11-6 in a non-conference game Saturday. Seniors Chad Amidon (Onondaga/Syracuse, NY), Jordan Hirsch (Hendrick Hudson/Montrose, NY), Conor O'Keefe (pictured, Stonybrook, Setauket, NY), and Kevin Kimball (St. Mark's/Framingham, NY) each recorded two goals for the Golden Flyers.

Sixth-ranked Nazareth scored the first six goals of the game and never trailed as it improved its record to 5-1. Hamilton fell to 2-3 with the loss in its first ever meeting with the Golden Flyers.

Kimball recorded the first two goals of the game followed by a goal from senior Ryan Hotaling (Onondaga/Syracuse), who also had three assists. Amidon, freshman Erinn O'Hara (Salisbury/Camillus, NY), and Hirsch each added goals in the second quarter to give Nazareth a 6-0 lead late in the first half. Mike Daley scored with 1:52 remaining in the first half to cut the Continentals' deficit to 6-1 at halftime.

The Golden Flyers started strong in the second half as O'Keefe, Hirsch, and Amidon each recorded a goal in the first 2:38 to put Nazareth in control. Junior Mark Kanellis recorded his first goal of the season 2:05 into the fourth quarter to give Nazareth an 11-3 lead. Hamilton scored three goals in the final 6:56 but did not threaten the Golden Flyers' lead.

Hamilton had a 36-35 edge in shots, but Nazareth held a 46-41 advantage in ground balls and a 12-9 advantage in face-offs. Senior Pat Mullin (Irondequoit/Rochester, NY) recorded nine saves in 45 minutes of playing time to record the victory. Freshman Cory Spinale (Governor's Academy/Wakefield, MA) made two saves and split playing time in the fourth quarter with Chris Hoffmeister (Holderness School/Norfolk, MA).

Nazareth hosts Cortland Wednesday for a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
