March 12, 2003
The Game Story:
The men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 10-9 win over SUNY Oneonta this evening in Clinton, New York. Dan Geiger scored the game-winning goal with two seconds remaining to give the Continentals the win.

Oneonta came out strong and held a 2-0 lead after eight minutes of play thanks to goals by Brian Balash and James Battaglia. Hamilton answered with a pair of goals to end the first quarter by Sean Lackaye and Dan Geiger, making it 2-2 after one.

Hamilton took the lead on a goal by Matt Silverio four minutes into the second quarter on an assist from Jim Henry. Oneonta State roared back, scoring three unanswered goals by Pete Monzet, Balash and Battaglia, making it 5-3 at the half.

After Battaglia scored again for the Red Dragons, making it 6-3 Hamilton went on a run of their own scoring six straight goals to end the third quarter and start the fourth. Geiger had three goals in that stretch, while Sean Lackaye and Matt Silverio each scored, giving Hamilton a 9-6 lead with 7:37 to go in the fourth.

Oneonta State would not be denied as Brian Balash single-handedly brought the Red Dragons back, scoring three straight goals, tying the score at 9-9 with his fifth score of the game with 1:12 remaining. That set up the final few seconds. Oneonta State had the ball with 30 seconds to play. After a bad pass by the Red Dragons Hamilton's Andy Laskowski scooped up the ground ball near midfield. With just about five seconds remaining Laskowski spotted Geiger sprinting towards the goal and hit him with an over the shoulder pass. Geiger sprinted in and shot with two seconds to go, beating Mike Louer as time ran out, giving Hamilton a 10-9 victory.
