| CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College scored eight goals in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and remain undefeated with a 14-8 nonleague win against SUNY Oneonta at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 30. The Continentals are 7-0 overall for the first time since 1982. Hamilton tries to keep its perfect season alive on Saturday, April 2, when the Continentals travel to Troy, N.Y., to play Rensselaer in Hamilton's Liberty League opener. Oneonta dropped to 3-4 with the Red Dragons' second straight road loss. Jim Henry '05 paced the Continentals with three goals and three assists. Henry leads the team with 18 goals and 28 points. He is second on Hamilton's all-time list with 167 points. George Earle '05 scored a season-high four goals, including three in the fourth quarter. Jack Newton '06 added three goals and an assist and Clark Winter '07 had two goals. Ethan Shoemaker '07 made 14 saves, including seven in the second quarter. The Continentals have scored 40 of their 73 goals in the second half while limiting opponents to 16 tallies. Ryan Henry '05, Keith Horn '06 and Sean Sullivan '05 led Oneonta with two goals each. Chad Wagoner '05 was credited with three assists. Rick Freud '06 stopped six shots, but just one after the break. Hamilton led just 7-6 after a Red Dragons goal by Dan Orlowski '05 with 10:15 left in the fourth quarter. The Continentals then scored four straight goals during the next 2:17 to grab control of the game. Earle scored off a face-off just seven seconds after Orlowski's goal. Newton made the score 9-6 with 9:41 remaining and Henry added two unassisted goals to give Hamilton an 11-6 advantage with 7:58 left. |
