Hamilton vs. Oneonta State

The Game Story:
Andy Simon '09 scored a goal with 3:09 left in regulation to send the game to overtime, but SUNY Oneonta struck first in the extra stanza to hand the Continentals a 9-8 non-league loss at Campus Road Athletic Field on April 1.

The loss bumped Hamilton's record down to 2-5 and improves Oneonta's to 4-4.

Franke Holiber '10 led the Hamilton offense with three goals. He is tied for the lead in goals this season with nine. Jon Leanos '12 was credited with a team high three assists and five ground balls. Leanos leads the team this season with nine assists and 18 points.

The Continentals led 3-2 after the first quarter on two goals from Holiber and one from Stephen Lefebvre '11. Leanos assisted on all three strikes. Oneonta roared back to take a 5-3 lead with three unanswered second-quarter goals.

Hamilton began the second half strong with three straight goals to regain the lead, 6-5, with 7:19 left in the third quarter. The Red Dragons scored goals at 2:45 and 2:19 to take the lead back, 7-6. Alex Hodgens '09 pounded in a goal with just one tick on the clock to knot the score at 7-7 going into the final quarter.

Oneonta struck first in the fourth quarter to take the one-goal lead with 8:41 left in regulation. Simon notched the game-tying goal with 3:09 to go. Each team had one shot hit the post in the final three minutes of play, and Max Vaickus '12 made one save, to send the game into overtime. Oneonta ended the game with a goal 2:02 into play.

Vaickus made ten saves in the loss. Austin Deyo '09 picked up four ground balls and Paul Citarella '12 won six of his nine faceoffs.

Hamilton hosts Vassar on Saturday, April 4 for a Liberty League game.
