| ONEONTA, N.Y. - Junior attackman Adam Hughes (Cicero-North
Syracuse HS/North Syracuse, N.Y.) had four goals and one assist to lead
the sixth-ranked Cortland State men's lacrosse team to an 11-5
non-conference victory over Hartwick College on Saturday.
Sophomore attackman Mike Debrossy (Westfield HS/Westfield, N.J.) gave the Hawks (6-3) a 3-2 lead with 13 minutes and 46 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The Red Dragons (6-1) responded with five unanswered goals and took a 7-3 lead into halftime. Hartwick scored two goals and held Cortland State scoreless in the third quarter to cut the lead to 7-5, but the Red Dragons added four goals in the fourth to put the Hawks away. Senior midfielder Andrew Roth (Don Bosco Prep/Ridgewood, N.J.) had three goals and four ground balls for Cortland State. Senior attackman Drew Hyatt (Jamesville-Dewitt HS/Jamesville, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Matt O'Connell (West Genesee HS/Camillus, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Ryan Simensky (Locust Valley HS/Locust Valley, N.Y.) each had one goal and two assists. Sophomore attackman Kyle Lambert (Brentwood HS/Brentwood, N.Y.) contributed one goal and one assist. Hartwick received two goals from Debrossy, and senior attackman Kevin Geraghty (Massapequa HS/Massapequa, N.Y.) had two assists. Junior attackman Brian Prescott (Duxbury HS/Duxbury, N.Y.), junior midfielder Noah Hollander (Guilford HS/Guilford, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Pat McCormack (West Genesee HS/Camillus, N.Y.) had one goal apiece. Sophomore goaltender Bryan Scipione (East Meadow HS/East Meadow, N.Y.) made 16 saves in 60 minutes for the Red Dragons, while senior Mark Colite (Southington HS/Southington, Conn.) stopped 12 shots in 60 minutes for the Hawks. Hartwick will travel to play a non-conference game against Rensselaer at 4 p.m. Wednesday. |
