The Game Story:
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Sophomore attackman Mike Debrossy had seven goals and one assist to lead the Hartwick College men's lacrosse team to a 16-7 victory over Elmira College on Wednesday at All-Weather Field.

The Hawks (5-1), who improved to 2-0 in Empire 8 Conference play, took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. Debrossy tallied two goals in the first quarter and added two more in the second to help Hartwick take a 7-2 lead into halftime.

Junior midfielder Devin Poole scored with nine minutes and 58 seconds remaining in the third quarter to put the Hawks ahead,10-3. Debrossy tallied three goals in the third quarter, scoring the final goal of the quarter at the 2:03 mark to give Hartwick a 13-4 lead.

Freshman attackman Brian Miller scored two goals in the fourth quarter and freshman attackman Lee Austin added a goal to finish the scoring for the Hawks.

Senior attackman Kevin Geraghty had a game-high four assists, and senior midfielder Greg Cohan had two goals for Hartwick. Poole and freshman midfielder Josh Porcell had one goal and one assist apiece, and junior defenseman Kyle DeVoe had two assists. Junior midfielder Noah Hollander and junior attackman Brian Prescott each had one goal.

Senior midfielders Scott Campbell and Alexander Karoly each had two goals and one assist to pace Elmira (1-3, 0-1). Senior midfielder Jack Egan tallied two goals, and junior midfielder Keith Holmes had one goal.

The Soaring Eagles remained in the game behind the strong all-around play of junior goaltender Kevin Welinsky, who stopped 20 shots in 60 minutes.

Hartwick senior Mark Colite played 55:43 and made 15 saves to improve to 5-1 as the starting goaltender. Freshman Jason Fautas played the final 4:17 of the fourth quarter and stopped two shots.

The Hawks will travel to Alfred to play an Empire 8 game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
