| ONEONTA, NY - Ryan Maloney (Downingtown/Downingtown, PA) finished with
four goals and one assist and Bill Luzzi
(Valley Stream/Valley Stream, NY) set the single-season record for ground
balls as the Hartwick College men's lacrosse team
took a 12-10 victory over Ithaca College in Empire 8 Conference play on
Saturday at All-Weather Field. The 11th-ranked Hawks moved to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Ithaca fell to 7-3 and also 3-1 in the league. Ryan Hoffmeister (St. Sebastian's/Norfolk, MA) added three goals for Hartwick, which led 4-0 after just six minutes of play. Hoffmeister had two of his goals during that time. Luzzi, who had a goal and an assist, broke the Hartwick single-season record for ground balls. With 14 more on Saturday, Luzzi now has 131 and passed Charlie Durkin's 1989 record of 125. Luzzi went 16-9 on face-off opportunities and is now 159-66 on the year. Ross Pino (Webster/Rochester, NY) also had a goal and an assist for Hartwick, while Kevin Geraghty (Massapequa/Massapequa, NY) had two assists. Brett Raboy (Ward Melville/S. Setauket, NY), Ethan Poole (Geneva/Geneva, NY) and Paul Fogel (Paul Schreiber/Port Washington, NY) each had one goal. Mark Colite (Southington/Southington, CT) had 19 saves for Hartwick. Nick Mayer (Ward Melville/Old Field, NY) led Ithaca with three goals and one assist. Dennis Juleff (Albany Creek/Australia) added three goals for the Bombers. Hartwick will play another league game at RIT next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. |
