April 26, 2003
The Game Story:
ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Rochester Institute of Technology men's lacrosse senior middie Tony Green got around the Hartwick defense and beat goalie Mark Colite low to record the game-winning overtime goal for a 14-13 victory 1:57 into the extra session.

The two teams were knotted 6-6 at halftime, but the Tigers opened the third quarter with a pair of goals by Andrew Pratt and Chris Copeland, both on feeds from freshman Zach Bednarz to give RIT an 8-6 advantage.

Hartwick matched the Tigers with a pair of goals by Ryan Maloney and Brian Prescott to tie the game once again at 8-8. RIT scored two of the next three goals to lead 10-9, but Hartwick went on a 3-0 run in the final 2:17 of the third to pull ahead 12-10. Greg Cohan, Mike Debrossy and Brian Prescott netted goals for the Hawks.

Prescott opened the fourth quarter with his sixth goal of the game from Debrossy at the 12:45 mark to extend the Hawks' advantage to 13-10.

RIT battled back with a man-up goal by Pratt at 11:02 from Zach Bednarz, then David Thering found the net at the 5:34 mark from Craig Rubino and then with 1:08 remaining Bednarz tied the game from Thering.

The Tigers' defense stood its ground after Hartwick's ADam Frys won the final regulation face-off. Hawks' middie Ryan Maloney fired a wide shot with 16 seconds left and after Hartwick broke up the RIT clearing attempt with 10 seconds and after Kevin Geraghty settled the loose ball. Then with four seconds remaining Nicholas Zysk was whistled for an illegal cross check.

RIT killed off the man-up chance in the first 56 seconds of the overtime session. Following the kill, Ryan Neward fired a floating shot on goalie Mark Colite. Colite saved another shot by Bednarz and then after the two teams traded turnovers, RIT gained possession and Green ended the game.

RIT resumes action on Wednesday, April 30 when it hosts NCAA Division II Mercyhurst at 3 p.m.
