Hartwick vs. Saint Lawrence

The Game Story:
CLINTON, N.Y. Sophomore attackman Nick Mastine and sophomore midfielder Brendan Lynch each scored two goals to help 12th-ranked St. Lawrence University defeat Hartwick College , 8-6, on Sunday afternoon at Hamilton College.

The Saints (1-0), who held a 4-2 lead at halftime, took a 7-4 lead with 12:08 left in the fourth quarter on a goal from freshman attackman Ben Prime. Hartwick (0-1) answered with two goals to make it 7-6 with 6:47 left. Sophomore midfielder Pat McCormack scored his third goal of the game with 9:53 remaining, and sophomore attackman Brian Miller converted a pass from senior attackman Noah Hollander to pull the Hawks within 1.

Although both teams had numerous scoring opportunities in the final five minutes of regulation, Mastine tallied an unassisted goal with 4:53 remaining to secure the victory. St. Lawrence received one goal and an assist from senior captain Alex Moore. Freshman attackman Kevin Russell and sophomore midfielder Willie Lapinski each contributed one goal.

McCormack finished with three goals and one assist, and Hollander had one goal and three assists to pace Hartwick. Miller and senior attackman Brian Prescott each tallied one goal, and junior midfielder Mike Debrossy had one assist. Sophomore goaltender Justin Demuth made 11 saves for the Saints to earn the victory. Sophomore Jason Fautas stopped 17 shots for the Hawks.
