The Game Story:
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Devin Poole (Geneva HS/Geneva, N.Y.) had four goals and one assist, and junior attackman Brian Prescott (Duxbury HS/Duxbury, Mass.) tallied four goals to lead the Hartwick College men's lacrosse team to a 21-11 victory over 16th-ranked McDaniel College (Md.) on Saturday at All-Weather Field.

The Hawks (2-0) controlled the tempo of the game early and took a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Poole and sophomore attackman Mike Debrossy (Westfield HS/Westfield, N.J.) each had two goals and one assist, and senior midfielder Greg Cohan (Farmingdale HS/Farmingdale, N.Y.) tallied two goals in the first 15 minutes of play.

The Green Terror (1-2) received goals from senior attackman Jeremy Freed (Boys' Latin/Baltimore, Md.) and freshman midfielder Jared Nutter (Moorestown HS/Moorestown, N.J.) to open the second quarter. Hartwick responded by scoring five of the next six goals to take a 15-6 lead into halftime.

Freed scored the first goal of the third quarter, but Hartwick answered with consecutive goals to extend the lead to 17-6. Freshman midfielder Steve Hoffman (LaSalle HS/Latham, N.Y.) scored two unassisted goals to pull McDaniel within 17-8 after three quarters.

Debrossy, Prescott, junior midfielder Mike Rose (Cheshire/Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman attackman Lee Austin (Duxbury HS/Duxbury, Mass.) scored in the fourth quarter for the Hawks. Senior midfielder Pete Shaffer (S. Carroll HS/Sykesville, Md.) and junior midfielder Donnie White (Glen Burnie/Glen Burnie, Md.) finished the scoring for the Green Terror.

Hartwick had a 52-32 advantage in shots and a 39-38 edge in ground balls. The Hawks man-up unit went 2-for-5, while McDaniel went 1-for-9 on power-play opportunities.

Senior goaltender Mark Colite (Southington HS/Southington, Conn.) had 15 saves in 56 minutes, and freshman Jason Fautas (Sachem/Holtsville, N.Y.) played the final four minutes without registering a save for Hartwick.

Senior goaltender Mike Korba (DeMatha/Laurel, Md.) stopped nine shots in 51 minutes, and freshman J.C. Hutchins (Westminster HS/Westminster, Md.) had three saves in nine minutes for the Green Terror.

The Hawks will host a non-conference game against University of Scranton (Pa.) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
