| HAVERFORD -- Junior Max Tcheyan scored twice in 30 seconds to break a 6-6 tie entering the fourth quarter, and give host Haverford a one-goal win over Skidmore for the second straight year. Tcheyan, who scored man-up on a Joe Mauri pass with 12:54 to go, converted another feed from long-stick Joel Censer after the ensuing faceoff to provide the ultimate game-winning goal. Tcheyan and Mike Distler both scored three goals, and Mauri and Matt Thorne-Fitzgerald added one each, for the Fords (2-2). Tom Spinella scored five goals for the Thoroughbreds (1-1), including the game's final goal with 5:26 to play. Nick Coppola fed both of Spinella's second-half goals and ended the game with three assists, to go with two in the first half by Joe Tynan. John Kotsinonos and Chuck McNeil each had an early goal for Skidmore, which led, 5-4, at the half. K.C. Peterson stopped 14 shots for Haverford, including two in the final 2:05, while Skidmore's James DeGorter made 10 of his 22 total saves in the second quarter. Peter Hannapel (12 of 17) and Dean Granoff (2 of 2) combined to give the Fords a decisive 14-5 margin in face-offs won, and Hannapel had eight of his team's 46 ground balls. |
