Haverford vs. Saint Lawrence
March 7, 2009
The Game Story:
ITHACA, N.Y. - Saturday's contest on the neutral turf at Cornell University was as exciting as two top-20 teams could make it with a late goal in regulation and a game-winner early in the overtime session.

Peter Carroll of the 13th-ranked Saints from St. Lawrence University had the fourth quarter score, finding the back of the Haverford net from 15 yards out from behind a screen with just one tick left on the clock to send the back and fourth affair into an extra session.

That overtime period ended quickly, though, as the Fords won the opening draw and marched down field where sophomore attackman Myles Monaghan was able to score the game-winner to give No. 18 Haverford a 9-8 upset victory that pushed the Fords' record to 2-1 on the young season.

The loss was the season opener for St. Lawrence.

Haverford had trailed the Saints entering the fourth quarter but got on a roll and used that momentum to build a 9-7 lead before the Saints would rally back to eventually tie the score with Carroll's goal just before the horn.

The victory was the second in a row for Haverford who will try to stretch the streak to three when they travel up the road to Eastern University on Wednesday, March 11, for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference tilt.
