| CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The fifth-ranked Washington College men's lacrosse team
won its seventh straight game, defeating visiting Haverford, 16-1, this
afternoon at Kibler Field. Thirteen different players scored at least one
goal for the Shoremen (7-2, 5-0 Centennial).
Junior midfielder Steve Berger (Jessup, MD/Mt. St. Joseph), senior attackman Chris Edwards (Baltimore, MD/Boys' Latin) and sophomore attackman Ryan Morrison (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset/Salisbury School, CT) led the balanced offensive effort. Berger tallied a goal and three assists, Edwards racked up four goals, and Morrison contributed two goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Brent Renner (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) and sophomore attackman Jon Spivey (Timonium, MD/Dulaney) each added two goals and one assist to the win, while junior midfielder Randy Vane (Sparks, MD/Gilman School) had one goal and one assist. Freshman attackman Rusty Poisson (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) tallied two assists. Mike Fischette found Eric Seideman in the fourth quarter for the only goal scored by Haverford (4-6, 2-4). The Shoremen held decisive advantages in shots (43-10) and ground balls (46-21) in the game. The Shoremen return to action Saturday when they host Muhlenberg in a 1:30 p.m. Centennial Conference game. |
