| ITHACA, N.Y. – The 13th-ranked men’s lacrosse team improved to 7-1 on the season with a 14-13 overtime victory over 11th-ranked Geneseo Friday afternoon. Junior Matt Nelligan (Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.) scored 1:05 into the extra frame off a faceoff win by sophomore Matt Ruhnke (Brien McMahon/Norwalk, Conn.). Junior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/East Point, Fla.) scored with 41 seconds left in the second half to force overtime. Geneseo scored five of six goals to open the second half, taking an 11-8 lead with 3:21 remaining in the third quarter. Ithaca responded with three straight goals to tie the game at 11. The teams then traded goal to close out the game. Sophomore Mike Cintineo (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) and Nelligan led the Bombers with three goals each, while classmates Craig Lepiane (West Irondequoit/Monroe) and Bush picked up two goals each. Junior Brandon Rose (Rush-Henrietta/Rochester) recorded four caused turnovers in the game for Ithaca and also tallied a goal. Mike Nowak (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa), Chris Carman (Monte Vista/Alamos, Calif.) and Kyle Golden (Ossining/Briarcliff) each recorded one goal. Goalie Dennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) made 16 saves for the win. The Bombers travel to Clinton, N.Y. to take on Hamilton, Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. |
