|Junior Andy Hilton (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) scored both of his goals in the second half including the game-winner with just less than seven minutes to play in the game at The College at Brockport Menís Lacrosse team scored a 7-6 victory over Kean University Saturday in a non-conference game at Alumni Field at Kean.|
Brockport (3-1) took a 1-0 lead midway through the first quarter as senior Adam Drypolcher (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) scored a man-up goal. Kean (3-4) tied the game at 1-1 two minutes later but with just 21 seconds left in the first quarter, Nate Thomas (Cortland, NY/Cortland) scored to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 advantage.
In the second quarter, Kean scored two minutes in to tie the score again before Drypolcher scored his second of the game and Mike McSweeney (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) scored with an assist from Drypolcher to give Brockport a 4-2 lead. Kean scored with two minutes left in the first half to cut the lead to 4-3 and the Golden Eagles maintained the one-goal lead into the halftime intermission.
Kean scored twice in the third quarter with one goal 2:17 into the half and the second at the 5:11 mark to take a 5-4 lead.
With just 29 seconds left in the third quarter, Hilton took a pass from Mike Tammaro (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) to knot the game at 5-5 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.
Brian Loeffler (Islip, NY/Islip) took a pass from Kyle Burton (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) off the opening faceoff of the fourth quarter and scored to give Brockport a 6-5 lead just 12 seconds into the final quarter. A little over a minute later, Kean tied the game again on its next possession.
With 7:06 to play in the fourth quarter, Kean was whistled for a pushing foul giving Brockport a 30-second man advantage. Brockport worked the ball around the top of the zone before Thomas fed Hilton on the right side of the cage and Hilton fired a shot past the Kean goalie with 10 seconds left in the man-up situation giving Brockport a 7-6 lead.
Kean applied pressure in the closing minutes but Mike Sanderson (Canton, NY/HC Williams) forced a turnover and picked up the ground ball with three minutes to play and cleared the zone. After a pair of turnovers, Brockport moved the ball back to goalie Kyle Crosley (Clinton, NY/Homer) but his long pass into the offensive zone was broken up and Kean moved quickly down the field and Crosley made a save on the breakaway shot with 1:47 left to play.
Kean retained possession and had a shot deflect off the post and side of the cage with 1:33 left and Brockport took over and cleared the zone. Another turnover with a minute to play gave Kean possession in the Brockport zone and after some confusion over a called timeout, had its final shot sail wide of the goal with 30 seconds remaining.
Brockport took over possession, cleared the ball and held control in the offensive zone until time expired.
Drypolcher led Brockport with two goals and an assist, Hilton added his two goals and Thomas was credited with a goal and an assist. Crosley finished with nine saves for the Golden Eagles.
