The Game Story:
Men's Lacrosse Blanks Hood, 14-0
UNION, N.J. – (3/4/06) Kean University’s Steve Gill (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored six goals to lead the Cougars to a 14-0 victory over Hood College this afternoon in men’s lacrosse action. With the win, Kean improves to 1-1 overall, while the Blazers fall to 0-2 this spring.

Kean jumped out to a six goal lead in the first quarter behind four scores by Gill and a goal a piece from Dennis Lukacsko (Lincoln Park, N.J.) and Dennis Novello (Freehold, N.J.). In the second quarter, Novello tallied his second of the game and Dan Mondino (Boonton, N.J.) added two scores. In the third period, the Cougars tallied three unassisted scores with two from the stick of Mike Tanis (Oak Ridge, N.J.). In the final 15 minutes, Gill and Dan Slinger (Succasunna, N.J.) closed out the scoring.

For the Cougars, Mondino finished with four points on two goals and two assists, while Will Lillard (Madison, N.J.) added two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) continued his strong season in net recording 11 saves in 40 minutes of action, freshman Carl Park (Madison, N.J.) and freshman Ryan Hulse (Jackson, N.J.) combined in the shutout.

For Hood, Sam Hofmann (Mechanicsville, Md.) made 13 saves in the loss and Chad Baker (Jefferson, Md.) had four shots on goal and picked up four ground balls.

Kean will next be in action Saturday, March 11 when they travel to San Diego, California, where they will face Gordon College at 1 p.m.
