| GAMBIER, Ohio -- Kenyon ran out to an 11-0 lead after one quarter and
limited Washington & Jefferson to just 10 shots in a 22-3 victory over the
Presidents on Sunday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio.
The Lords (6-3) tallied five goals in the first 5:10 of the game, including a pair of goals from Ross Zachary. Zachary then assisted on three other first-period goals as Kenyon took control of the game with the 11-goal lead. KC added six goals in the second quarter to assume a 17-2 halftime advantage. Justin Hamilton finished the half with two goals and one assist, while C.P. Waite added a pair of scores. The Presidents (3-6) were led by sophomore midfielders Travis Longacre (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) and Mike Prushnok (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) and freshman attacker Doug Lash (West Mifflin, Pa./Central Catholic), who all scored one goal. Freshman attacker Matt Kozera (Towson, Md./Boys Latin School) also posted three assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Doug DiGiovanni (Washington, Pa./Trinity) totaled 15 saves in the defeat. Kenyon held a 46-10 shot advantage and collected 55 ground balls. The Lords converted on 3-of-8 extra-man opportunities and won 25-of-28 faceoffs. The Presidents conclude their 2003 home schedule by hosting Wooster on Wednesday at Cameron Stadium at 4:30 pm. |
