The Game Story:
Lords turn back Bulldog attack

GAMBIER, Ohio (March 20, 2010) In a game where neither team led by more than two goals, the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team earned a hard-fought, 11-9 win over visiting Adrian College Saturday. Sophomore Geoff Akie (Sherborn, MA/Dover-Sherborn) led the Lords with four points on three assists and one very big goal that came at a crucial point in the fourth quarter.

With 8:12 remaining in the contest, the Bulldogs scored to cut Kenyon's lead down to one, 9-8. On the ensuing faceoff, senior Andrew Damskey (Geyserville, CA/Sonoma Academy) controlled the ball, raced up field and fired a quick pass to Akie who buried a shot in the back of the cage from the left side just six seconds after Adrian's goal.

The stunned Bulldogs needed a couple of minutes to regroup, but did so with another goal at the 6:07 mark. Akie was back at it again one minute later, this time on the delivering end with an assist to senior Dominique McKoy (Portland, OR/Woodrow Wilson) that capped the scoring and put the Lords in position for the two-goal win.

McKoy was one of four players to register two scores on the afternoon for the Kenyon offense, along with seniors Adam Toltzis (Yardley, PA/The Pennington School) and Jordan Zimolka (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore), and freshman Chris Pappalardo (Chevy Chase, MD/Bethesda Chevy Chase). Pappalardo also added an assists for a three-point game.

Defensively, sophomore Austin Anusbigian (Birmingham, MI/Detroit Country Day) made 14 saves to earn the win in net. The Lords also benefitted from Damskey's 12 ground balls and another eight from junior Charlie Sayre (Englewood, CO/Kent Denver School).

Kenyon returns to action next Saturday with a trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a 4 p.m. match-up against Saint Vincent College.
