Kenyon vs. Adrian
April 11, 2012
The Game Story:
GAMBIER, Ohio (April 11, 2012) The visiting Adrian College Bulldogs wriggled off their leash early Wednesday at McBride Field and the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team never managed to catch up. Adrian jumped out to a 4-0 lead en route to an 11-4 decision that ended the Lords' bid for their sixth-straight victory.
Kenyon (7-3) got off plenty of shots against the Bulldogs only to be turned back by goalie Kevin Lerg. The Lords totaled 33 shots in the game and Lerg warded off 10 of the 14 shots that were on target. The defense in front of Lerg was also key as Adrian forced Kenyon into several prolong scoring droughts.

When the Lords finally got on the board early in the second quarter, they were staring down the four-goal deficit. Sophomore Caleb Florence (DeCatur, GA/Loomis Chaffee) helped to halve the gap with a hand in two Kenyon goals over a three-minute span. Florence set up junior Mackie Avis (Grand Rapids, MI/ East Grand Rapids) at the 13:51 mark then polished off an assist from junior Will Lowe (Charlotte, NC/Myers Park) with 10:50 left in the first half.

The momentum was short lived for the Lords, though. Over the next 22 minutes, the Bulldogs (10-1) used a 6-0 run to put Kenyon in a hole from which it could not climb out.

The Lords final two scores of the game were unassisted jobs by Lowe and senior Geoff Akie (Sherborn, MA/Dover-Sherborn).

Kenyon will attempt to begin a new winning streak Saturday when the team hosts Ohio Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. in a return to North Coast Athletic Conference play.
