Keuka vs. Morrisville

The Game Story:
The Keuka menís lacrosse team allowed five fourth quarter goals to lose its lead and the game to the visiting Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville by a score of 11-10 on Wednesday.

The Storm slip to 1-3 overall and lose its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game of the season while Morrisville improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

Leading 8-6 heading into the final period, Keuka bumped its lead to four with two straight goals to open the period. Morrisville then scored five straight goals, including the game-winner with 1:20 remaining, to steal the victory.

After Morrisville scored the gameís first two goals, Keuka rattled off five straight to finish off the first period. The Mustangs out-scored Keuka 2-1 in the second, as the Storm held a 6-4 lead at the break.

The two teams traded goals in the third period, each scoring twice. For the game, the Mustangs out-shot Keuka 45-29 while winning 15-of-23 face-offs. Keuka successfully cleared 23 of 34 chances while Morrisville went 18-for-25. Morrisville also held a 41-37 advantage in ground balls.

Junior goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) enjoyed a huge game, allowing Keuka to be in the lead the majority of the game, despite the Storm being out-shot by 16. He finished with 20 saves while Morrisvilleís two goalies managed just six stops.

Rookie Chris Redington (Tully, N.Y./Tully) led the Stormís offense with five goals. Fellow freshman Mike Crumlish (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) and junior David Miller (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) each passed off four assists. Miller added a team-high seven ground balls while winning eight face-offs.

Freshman Mark Butto (Rochester, N.Y./Schroeder) added two scores while juniors Stephen Ferguson (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and Jaime Conway (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) each had a goal. Rookie Anthony Jones (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) netted his second goal of the season.

The Storm will next play host to SUNY Potsdam this Saturday, March 27 beginning at 1 pm.
