The Game Story:
4/21/07 -- Junior Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) had three goals and three assists as Widener clinched a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament with its fourth straight win, 15-5 over King’s in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Stromko scored all three of his goals during a run in which Widener (8-4, 6-2 MAC) opened an 8-2 lead with 6:12 left in the first half. Junior Chris Matthews (Drexel Hill, PA) netted a pair in the opening half as the Pride took a comfortable 10-3 lead.

Luke Weber (Lititz, PA), fellow junior Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA) and freshman Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) all tallied a pair of goals for the Pride. Darnell Jones (Severn, MD) added three assists and fellow senior Andrew Johnson (Wallingford, PA) made 10 saves.

Stromko’s hat trick was his fourth straight, giving him 17 goals in that span and helping the Pride to their sixth victory in seven outings.

Ryan Lachner scored twice and added an assist for the Monarchs (2-11, 2-7).

Widener strengthened its hold on second place in the MAC. Messiah (8-0) already has clinched the number one seed for the conference tournament.

Widener is on the road Wednesday to face FDU-Florham. Face-off in Madison, NJ is at 4:00 pm.
