|Williamsport, PA – The Elmira College Men's Lacrosse team fell to host Lycoming College, 15-9, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The win improves the Warriors to 3-5, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 3-3.|
Lycoming got out to a quick start taking a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, but EC responded outscoring the Warriors 3-1 in the second period. Lycoming held a 10-1 advantage in face-offs in the first half to take a 5-4 lead into intermission. Rick Acorn '12 (Barrie, ONT -- Couchiching Terriers) led Elmira with two goals in the opening half, while David Evert '14 (Niagara Falls, NY -- Niagara Wheatfield) added a goal and an assist.
The Warriors scored twice out of the half to take a 7-4 advantage with the Purple and Gold trying to play catch up. EC had it within two at 8-6 and was down 12-9 after an Eric David '15 (Dorval, QUE -- Pembroke Lumber Kings) goal with 6:37 left in the game but Lycoming scored three straight to close out the 15-9 victory.
Evert and Brady Richards '14 (Cortice, ONT -- The Hill Academy) led Elmira with two goals and one assist apiece, while Acorn scored both of his goals in the opening half. TJ White '12 (Collegeville, PA -- Methacton) and Travis Armideo '12 (Kimberton, PA -- Haverford School) were productive for EC picking up seven and six ground balls, respectively, while both forcing three turnovers apiece. Andrew Hauk made nine saves in net for Lycoming, while Dave Bucchino '13 (Cedar Grove, NJ -- Bow) stopped 20 shots between the pipes to keep the Soaring Eagles in the game.
