|LYNCHBURG, VA Ė The fourth ranked Lynchburg College menís lacrosse team marched to a victory in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament semi-finals, defeating Randolph-Macon College 22-5 while extending its record long winning streak to 13 games.|
LC would open up the game with a 4-0 margin with less than five minutes to go in the first quarter and would go into the half up 8-3. The Hornets would take control in the second half, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 14-2 after intermission. Lynchburg was led by a trio of seniors, with Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson) scoring three times along with one assist while Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul's) tallied three scores and Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) posted two goals and two assists. Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) found the back of the net twice and dished out one assist while Kevin Donahue (Ipswich, MA/Tabor Academy) contributed with one goal and two assists. Norby King (Bryn Mawr, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) won six of 11 face-offs along with five groundballs while Jeff Schwartz (New City, NY/Tabor Academy) won nine of 14 face-offs and scooped up six groundballs.
RMC (7-7) was led by Zach Craft who contributed with two goals and one assist and Billy Rowe had two scores. JR Sander won 13 of 26 face-offs and Ray Wodarski stopped seven shots. LC outshot the Yellow Jackets 56-20 and held advantages in groundballs (39-23), face-offs (18-13), and clears (14-10).
Lynchburg (15-2) will host the ODAC Championship game this weekend at a time and date to be determined. The Hornets will face the winner of the Washington & Lee University vs. Virginia Wesleyan College semi-final match to be played on Wednesday at 4:30 in Lexington, VA.
