| LYNCHBURG, VA – The fifth-ranked Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals midway through the game and held on to defeat #12 Lynchburg College 14-11 Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. The Hornets built a 5-2 lead early in the second period after the second tally from senior attack Billy McCulloch (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson). Lynchburg led 6-4 with 9:06 left in the second period when Roanoke used the seven-goal surge to take an 11-6 lead midway through the third quarter. RC held a 13-8 edge with under five minutes remaining on the game clock, but the Hornets scored three-straight times to bring the deficit within two. A Maroon score with 36 seconds left sealed the outcome. McCulloch had four goals and two assists for Lynchburg, and Brian Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) had two scores. Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/B. Reed Henderson) and A.J. Tinklepaugh (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) each had two assists while Adam Gift (Centreville, VA/Westfield), Ryan Quick (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle), Logan Erickson (Marietta, GA/Lassiter), Andrew White (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) and Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul’s) each had one goal. Chris Keating and Zach Thomas each posted two goals and an assist for Roanoke (7-1/2-0 ODAC) and Dan Reed distributed three assists. The Maroons out shot LC 40-31 while the Hornets won 15 of the 29 face-off opportunities. Lynchburg (7-3/1-2 ODAC) hosts the top team in NCAA Division III, Salisbury University, Sunday at 1 p.m. |
