| LYNCHBURG, VA - Senior Paul Venturella (Millersville, MD/Old
Mill) scored 24 seconds into the fourth overtime period Sunday to lift the
Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 quadruple overtime victory
over visiting Stevens Institute of Techology (NJ).
Stevens Tech held a 9-7 advantage midway through the fourth
period before goals by Brandon Childs (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) and Andy
Sinclair (Maitland, FL/Winter Park) knotted the score. The game remained
tied through the first three four-minute overtime periods, until
Venturella's game-winner following the fourth-overtime face-off.
Childs had four goals with one assist, while Kevin Reinecke
(Crofton, MD/Arundel) tallied three goals and three assists. The 17th-ranked
Hornets out shot their visitors 50-26 and held a 16-8 edge in face-offs.
Matt Kuppe had two goals and an assist for Stevens Tech (2-1).
Brian Lalli and Erik Reckdenwald each added two scores. Goalie Matt Cannon
made 23 saves.
Lynchburg (3-1) hosts Division II Limestone College (SC)
