|LYNCHBURG, VA- Senior midfielder Ethan Farrell (Nantucket, MA/Nantucket) scored three times Wednesday afternoon as the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team evened its record at 2-2 with a 12-7 victory over Swarthmore College (PA). Farrell scored in the first, second and fourth periods.|
The Hornets had a 3-2 lead after the end of one quarter, and rattled off the first five tallies of the second period to go ahead 8-2. The Garnet scored the last goal of the half and cut the lead to 11-7 with 9:36 left in the contest after Max Hubbard's second score of the game. But the LC defense held Swarthmore scoreless the remainder of the game.
Lynchburg controlled the ball much of the game, aided by Brennan Green (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego) winning 19 of 23 face-offs. Eddie Bilinkas (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) had two goals and an assist and Aaron Khouri (Louisville, KY/Memphis U School) found the back of the net twice. Max Voumard (Cape May, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) posted a goal and an assist, and Ben Sauer (Richmond, VA/Collegiate), Andrew Wilfong (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne), Austin Jeter (Coppell, TX/Episcopal School of Dallas) and Jon Gill (Pocopson, PA/Unionville) each scored once. Roland St. Clair-Barrie (Scituate, MA/Tabor Academy) made six saves in 59 minutes in net.
Tyler Bradshaw had three scores for Swarthmore (1-2), Hubbard had two goals and James Wright had a goal and an assist. Keeper Kevin Friedenberg made 17 saves for the Garnet.
The Hornets (2-2) travel to Stevens Tech for another non-conference game Saturday at 1 p.m.
