The Game Story:
HAVERFORD, PA - Junior Chris Johnson (Chantilly, VA/Centreville) made a save with one second left on the clock to preserve a 9-8 Lynchburg College win over Widener University Wednesday in men's lacrosse action.

The Hornets trailed 4-1 after the first period but fought back to take a 9-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Pioneers drew within one at the seven-minute mark, but a last drive with the clock winding down was stopped by the last of Johnson's 14 saves.

Freshman Billy McCulloch (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) scored three goals, while Brandon Childs (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) and Toby Costello (Tiburon, CA/Redwood) each had a goal and an assist. Zack Greene (Arnold, MD/Broadneck), Joe Matta (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air), Kevin Reinecke (Crofton, MD/Arundel) and Paul Venturella (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) each had a goal.

Lynchburg (2-1) will face Stevens Tech Saturday at Fairfax High School at 2 p.m. Widener falls to 0-2 on the season.
