Maine Maritime vs. Mount Ida

|The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners (2-1) dropped their first game of the season with today’s 13-9 North Atlantic Conference loss to the Mt. Ida College Mustangs (7-2).|
Leading the way for the Mustangs was freshman attacker Brett Conley (Melrose, MA) who tallied five goals and three assists on the day. Matt Ramieor (Arlington, MA) added two goals and two assists, and Alex Champagne (East Greenwich, RI) scored two goals. Rounding out the scoring for the Mustangs were Chris Prophete (Waltham, MA), Andrew Lampert (Northport, NY), Jonathan Lightbown (Melrose, MA), and Vince Pizzimenti (Gloucester, MA).
For the Mariners, sophomore attacker Luke McPartlin (Belgrade, ME) had two goals and two assists, junior midfielder Brandon Hamilton (Skowhegan, ME) had two goals and one assist, and senior John O’Malley (Eliot, ME) had two goals. Nate Bolduc (Farmington, ME), Will Hood (Phippsburg, ME), and Garrett Lake (Farmington, ME) added a goal each in the losing cause.
Bryan Smith (Fairport, NY) in goal for the Mustangs made 13 saves on 35 Mariner shots, and for MMA it was Roscoe Bishop (West Bath, ME) who made 7 saves on 39 Mt. Ida shots.
In a game that went back and forth throughout the first half, it was Maine Maritime who tied the score at 7-7 with 13:51 to go in the third quarter on a Will Hood goal. Vince Pizzimenti scored the go ahead goal from a Matt Ramieor assist at the 10:26 mark, and from there on the Mustangs never looked back, scoring five unanswered goals to up their lead to 13-7. MMA scored two late goals to get within four, but the final score ended up 13-9.
