The Game Story:
Castine, Maine – Jake Frank (Bethany, CT) scored three goals and dished out two assists as the Emerson College Lions pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 12-8 win over the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners in a North Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse game played Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

With the score tied at two going into the third quarter, Josh Anderson (Underhill Center, VT) gave the Lions their first lead of the day (3-2) on a feed from Josh Frank. MMA responded two minutes later when freshman standout CJ Keiley (pictured left) scored off of a pass from Garrett Lake (Farmington, ME). The Lions took the lead again at 4-3 when Jake Frank scored his second goal of the afternoon. Todd Murphy (Middlesex, VT) evened the score once again as he scored on a breakaway when the Mariners were a man down. The Lions finished the quarter with two goals in the last 1:20 going up 6-4 and they never trailed again.

Emerson attacker Roger Tower (Titusville, NJ) opened the fourth quarter, scoring two of the first three goals and increased the lead to 9-4. MMA would get within three goals at two separate occasions but couldn’t get over the hump and lost by the score of 12-8.

For Maine Maritime (5-6), attacker CJ Keiley had two goals and three assists for a five-point game while Nate Bolduc (Farmington, ME) and Garrett Lake each had two goals apiece on the afternoon. Goalie Patrick Jones (Kennebunk, ME) stopped eight shots in the loss and dropped to 5-6 on the season.

For Emerson (4-12), Josh Frank, Joe Greaney (Medfield, MA), and Josh Anderson each finished with three goals and two assists on the afternoon. Roger Tower had two goals and assists in the win. Dean Smollar (Fairfax, VA) was outstanding in goal for the Lions making 21 saves in the victory.
