The Game Story:
MARIETTA, Ohio -- Freshman Chris Rowswell scored five goals and added three assists as Marietta picked up its first victory of the season in a 12-6 victory over Washington & Jefferson in men^s lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon in Marietta, Ohio.

The Pioneers (1-8) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter as Adam Cervanka and Joe Seroke each netted a pair of goals.

MC stretched the advantage at halftime to 7-1, but the Presidents managed to slice the lead to 8-6 in the fourth period before Marietta answered with four consecutive goals to close out W&J.

Cervanka finished with two goals and two assists for the Pioneers, while Seroke found the back of net three times. Pete Campbell turned back 20 shots in the goal for the victors.

Sophomore midfielder Travis Longacre (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) led the President effort with three goals and one assist. Junior attacker Phil Johnson (Washington, Pa./Trinity) notched a pair of goals, while freshman attacker Doug Lash (West Mifflin, Pa./Central Catholic) scored one goal and handed out two assists. Freshman attacker Matt Kozera (Towson, Md./Boys Latin School) also added two helpers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Doug DiGiovanni (Washington, Pa./Trinity) totaled eight saves for Washington & Jefferson.

The Presidents (3-4) host Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent Guilford (N.C.) in their next contest on Saturday at Cameron Stadium at noon.
