|Men's Lax: Owls Beat Beacons 13-4|
DORCHESTER, MASS. 4/7/07 - The Keene State College men's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to eight games with a 13-4 Little East Conference victory over UMass-Boston at the Clark Athletic Center in Dorchester, Mass. on Saturday.
The Owls (8-0, 2-0 LEC), who received votes in this week's national Division III poll for the first time, are ranked seventh in New England. UMass-Boston drops to 3-2 (1-1 LEC).
KSC spread out the offense with seven players finding the back of the net. Sean Panora (South Windsor, Conn.) and Casey Brodersen (Derry, N.H.) led the attack with three goals each. Both Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.) and Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.) scored a pair and Mike Fontaine (Wolfboro, N.H.), Jamie LeSage (Exeter, N.H.), and Taylor Morasutti (Cheshire, Conn.) added single goals. Santa Fe also had five assists, one shy of the school record.
Chris Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.) figured in all the scoring for the Beacons with two goals and two assists.
Keene State jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter on the way to building up a 8-1 halftime advantage.
Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) finished the game with 11 saves for KSC.
"It was a roller-coaster game for us," said KSC Coach Mark Theriault. "We played well at times, but also didn't take advantage of several scoring opportunities. "When you limit a team to just four goals, you're defense played well; I thought Easton Kezer (Derry, N.H.) had another strong game at long-stick midfield."
Keene State travels to Plymouth on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. LEC game against the rival Panthers.
