|BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Peter Kovach (Cohasset, Mass.) recorded three goals and three assists and seniors Rob Thayer (West Tisbury, Mass.) and Chris Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.) added three goals apiece Saturday afternoon to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston to a 13-9 victory over Plymouth State University in Little East Conference men’s lacrosse action at Clark Athletic Center.|
The Beacons jumped out to a 5-1 advantage after one quarter and never relinquished the lead. It was a 7-4 UMB lead at halftime, and after PSU pulled to within two goals (8-6) with six minutes to go in the third quarter, the Beacons tallied the next four goals to put the Panthers away.
UMB won its second in a row to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while PSU drops to 4-5 and 1-3.
Junior John Cogswell (Jefferson, Mass.) provided the offensive highlights for the Panthers, matching his career best with three goals. Junior Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) contributed a career-high six assists, setting up PSU’s last goal of the first half and all five in the second half. Six other Panthers scored one goal each – juniors Doug Malloy (Londonderry, N.H.) and Tony Aguiar (Northborough, Mass.), senior Kyle McKay (Longmeadow, Mass.), and freshmen Tim Hadley (New London, N.H.), Wes Downing (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Matt Johansmeyer (Shelburne Falls, Mass.)
