The Game Story:
Grantham, PA – The 6th ranked Messiah College Falcons improved to 6-0 on the season, and 3-0 in MAC play with a 13-5 victory versus the Scranton Royals on Anderson Field Saturday. The Royals would score the game’s first goal less than three minutes into the game, but MC would score the next 9 goals to take a 9-1 lead at the half. Both squads scored four goals in the second half to produce the final 8-goal margin.

The Falcons would out shoot the Royals 51-14 on the day, but only managed 13 goals against Scranton keeper Thomas Kenyon (10 saves, 60:00). Meanwhile Scranton would score 5 goals on their 14 attempts with long possessions and good shot selection. Chris Gilbert played 45:00 for MC, making 6 stops and allowing 4 goals. Freshman Dustin Jefferies (11:43, 1 save, 0 GA) and Ted Oberg (3:17, 0 saves, 1 GA) would share time during the final quarter.

Messiah was led by Jono Linebaugh’s 6 goals on the day, while Alex Finch (3g,2a), Andrew Collins (2g,2a) Peter McLean (2g,1a) also found the net for the Falcons. Junior Tosh Tryon won 15 of his 19 face-off attempts and picked up a game high nine ground balls

Scranton (0-7, 0-3) saw Sean O’Connor and Matthew Huber score twice, and Matthew Cesare once.

The Falcons will host another MAC foe next Wednesday, April 6th, as the Bulldogs of Desales University visit Anderson Field for a 4:00 contest.
