|The Game Story:|
|Messiah handed Susquehanna University its first loss in MAC play on
Wednesday, as both teams now stand at 4-1 in conference play on the season.
The Falcons used a 19-4 face-off margin, as well as advantages of 63-10 in
shots and 61-35 in ground balls to aid their cause.
Junior Jono Linebaugh had a game high 11 points, as he netted 5 goals and dished out 6 assists in the contest. Fellow attackmen Reed Horanburg (4g,1a) and Kevin Dennsteadt (2g,2a) were next in the scoring department. Eight different Falcons ( including Nat Pierce, Dan Videon, Pete McLean, Adam Myers, Ryan White) scored goals in the contest, while midfielder Denny Erb added an assist.
The Crusaders scored two man up goals in the first quarter off the sticks of Matt Miceli and Justin Mason, while Bobby Costa and Dan St.Ours would record the assists. Senior Scott Hogson was also credited a goal, the lone Susquehanna tally in the game's final 45:00, which was scored off an errant ground ball attempt by a Messiah defender that ended up in the Falcon's cage.
Messiah's Chris Gilbert made five stops on the ten shots he faced, playing just about 52:00 minutes between the pipes. Jason Kirwan played the remainder of the contest, keeping the Crusaders off the board the rest of the way. Susquehanna's Dan Kotch made 20 stops on the afternoon, playing behind the stingy Crusader zone defense.
Messiah will travel to Gettysburg , PA , for an out of conference contest with the 5th ranked Bullets on Wednesday, April 14th. The first face off is at 3:30pm.
