| MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Middlebury remained perfect in NESCAC play as they
topped Bates 10-6 at Kohn Field. The Panthers end the year as the NESCAC
regular season champions and will host the semifinals and finals of the
tournament next Saturday and Sunday at Youngman Field. Bates ends its season

Bates led 1-0 before the Panthers scored twice to take a 2-1 lead
with 6:44 left in the first quarter. Gabriel Belsky tied the game at two
with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter, but that would be Bates'
last goal for the next 31:02. The game remained at 2-2 until Middlebury
scored three goals in the final 5:11 of the second session to take a 5-2
lead at the half. The Panthers continued their third quarter dominance this
season as they outscored the Bobcats 4-0 to take a 9-2 lead into the final
quarter. The lead grew to 10-2 before Bates scored the game's final four
goals to make it a 10-6 contest.
Charley Howe led Middlebury with three goals on the afternoon, while
Mike Saraceni scored a goal and assisted on three others. Bates had six
different goal scorers, led by Scott Duddy with a goal and an assist.
Eric Krieger made 13 saves in goal for Middlebury, while Mark Dobbyn
made a dozen stops for Bates.
