Junior midfielder Alex Rosero ( Bellport , NY /Bellport) had two goals and an assist for New York Maritime, which also fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Montclair State jumped out to a 3-0 lead near the midpoint of the first period as Meixner scored twice, the second coming with 8:03 left on an unassisted tally. The Privateers would cut the deficit to one just under three minutes later as Sean Kennedy (Huntington, NY/St. Anthonyís) and Max Ferguson (Rockville Centre, NY/Chaminade) each scored to make the score 3-2. MSUís Evan Wehmeyer ( Succasunna , NJ /Pope John XXIII) answered with an unassisted tally with 2:02 to play as MSU led by two after the first period.
Meixner extended the MSU lead early in the second. With Maritime looking to clear the ball out from behind the goal, Meixner intercepted the pass headed for goalkeeper Joseph Fasano ( Bethpage , NY / Bethpage ) and then beat Fasano around the left side of the cage for a virtual empty-net goal and a 5-2 lead. Bachmanís goal with 8:04 left gave MSU a four-goal cushion, but Maritime would bridge the halves with a three-goal run, including two by Rosero to make the score 6-5 with 4:12 left in the third.
Bachman countered for the Red Hawks with a blistering shot from the right side that tucked inside the near post for a man-up goal that pushed the lead back to 7-5, but again the Privateers pulled within a goal as Keith Fricke (White Plains, NY/White Plains) scored with 1:30 to play in the third. Klimchak and Meixner then combined on a goal with 57 seconds left to start a four-goal run for MSU that completed the scoring in the game.
Bonner collected two in the final period and Meixner finished off his five-point outing by finishing off a long break from long-stick midfielder Matt Sharp ( Wilmington , DE /Salesianum) with 4:31 remaining.
Sophomore Thomas Bowers ( Hamburg , NJ /Pope John XXIII) made 12 saves for the Red Hawks while Fasano posted the same number for Maritime. Sharp finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Donald Toby ( Oceanside , NY / Oceanside ) was 7-for-15 on faceoffs and registered a game-high nine ground balls.
