The Game Story:
Montclair, NJ (4/4/07) – Sophomore attack A.J. Bachman (Montville, NJ/Mountain Lakes) scored four goals while senior midfielder Evan Wehmeyer (Succasunna, NJ/Pope John XXIII) added two goals and three assists as Montclair State scored the first nine goals of the game en route to a 16-3 victory over Mount St. Vincent in Skyline Conference men’s lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Patrick Nann (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) had two goals and an assist as the Red Hawks won their fourth straight improving to 5-3 overall, 4-1 in the Skyline Conference.

Junior attack Stan Wong ( Merrick , NY /Calhoun) had two goals for the Dolphins, who fell to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the Skyline.

The Red Hawks jumped on top 70 seconds into the game as sophomore John Schiavone ( Montclair , NJ / Montclair ) scored unassisted. Bachman would collect his first with 10:51 to play and Mario Passafiume’s (Boonton, NJ/Mountain Lakes) man-up tally just over a minute later made the score 3-0 with 9:45 left in the opening period. Bachman tallied his second goal 36 seconds later to extend the lead to four and Tyler Meixner ( Hamburg , NJ / Vernon ) added a marker with 3:09 remaining as the MSU lead grew to five. Bachman recorded the hat trick just before the first period horn as the Red Hawks led 6-0.

The scoring continued for MSU in the second as Meixner netted his second goal with 10:47 left and a goal by Wehmeyer with 7:11 to play pushed the Red Hawk advantage to 8-0. Freshman Taylor Bonner ( Old Bridge , NJ / Old Bridge ) capped off the MSU offensive outburst with his only goal of the game at 8:45 of the period.

Wong would put Mount St. Vincent on the board with 18 seconds left before halftime as the Dolphins trailed 9-1 at intermission.

Nann would score his two goals in the third period while Bachman tallied his fourth on a man-advantage as Montclair built a 12-1 lead after three quarters.

Junior Thomas Egan ( Nanuet , NY /Nanuet) finished with 17 saves for Mt. St. Vincent while MSU goalkeeper Thomas Bowers ( Hamburg , NJ /Pope John XXIII) had five before departing midway through the third quarter. Freshman Joseph DiGangi (Belle Meade , NJ /Montgomery) had three saves over the final 15 minutes for Montclair .

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, April 7 as the Red Hawks host Manhattanville College in a Skyline Conference matchup at 1:00 pm . The Dolphins are now off until Wednesday, April 11 as they head to Richard Stockton College for a 7:00 pm Skyline Conference contest with the Ospreys.
