The Game Story:
EWTON, Mass. (April 14, 2007) – For the seventh time in a row, the Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse team found the win column, as it defeated Johnson State College this afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action at the Mount Ida Athletic Stadium. With the victory, the Mustangs extended their winning streak against league foes to 27 games.

Sophomore attackman Brett Conley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) tallied six points on three goals and three assists to ignite Mount Ida’s offensive attack. The Mustangs also received a boost from classmate Chris Prophete (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) and freshman John Perez (Dorchester, Mass./Wayland), who recorded hat tricks. Junior midfielder Alex Champagne (East Greenwich, R.I./Rocky Hill/Ohio Wesleyan) found the net twice and assisted on two others, while classmate Andrew Cloonan (Franklin, Mass./Franklin/Dean CC) dished out four helpers to round things out for the hosts.

Both of Johnson State’s goals were scored by freshman attacker Erik Tillberg (Randolph, Vt./Randolph Union).

Mount Ida registered the first seven goals of the contest before the Badgers reached the scoring column in the waning seconds of the first quarter. From there, it was all Mustangs, as the home team amassed 13-straight markers to put things out of reach. They held Johnson State scoreless in both the second and third periods, outscoring the guests 11-0 during that stretch.

The Mustangs dominated play throughout, outshooting the Badgers 48-17. They were on the winning end of 19 of the game’s 27 face-offs and picked up 31 more ground balls (63-32). On extra-man opportunities, Mount Ida went 4-for-7. One of Johnson State’s goals came during a power play.

Senior goaltender Kyle Bowler (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) turned away three shots en route to his sixth win of the 2007 campaign. Junior Kegan Pettit (South Freeport, Maine/Freeport) finished with seven saves in a losing effort for the Badgers.
