| NEWTON, Mass. (March 28, 2006) - Freshmen Brett Conley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) and sophomore Jonathan Lightbown (Melrose, Mass./Malden Catholic) racked up seven points apiece to fuel the Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team to a 20-3 victory over non-conference foe Norwich University this afternoon at the Mount Ida Athletic Stadium. The Mustangs netted the game's first 14 goals en route to their fifth-consecutive win. Conley paced Mount Ida with five goals and a pair of assists, while Lightbown added four markers and three assists. The duo combined to score six of the Mustangs first seven goals to help the hosts to a 9-0 halftime advantage. Freshmen Alex Champagne (East Greenwich, R.I./Rocky Hill) and Travis Roache (Hyde Park, Mass./MATCH School) each tallied hat tricks in the second half, as Mount Ida poured in 11 more goals to win going away. The hosts won 20 of the 25 face-offs and out-shot Norwich 50-22 in a dominant effort. A total of 11 Mustangs found the scoring column, including senior Matt Ramieor (Arlington, Mass./Arlington), who collected one goal and three assists and freshman Leo Shidler (Peabody, Mass./Peabody), who chipped in with a goal and two helpers. Junior C.J. Hamilton (Peacham, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) notched all three markers for the Cadets, cashing in on assists from sophomores Justin Aubin (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central) and Scott Pearce (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire). Goaltender Kyle Bowler (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) played all 60 minutes in net for the hosts. The junior stopped ten shots to earn his third win of the season. Freshmen Joe Phelan (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) got the start in net for Norwich. He made one save before giving way to classmate Kyle Field (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union), who blocked ten attempts. Mount Ida (5-1, 1-0 NAC) hits the road for an out-of-league contest at Salve Regina University on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Mustangs will return home to host Plymouth State University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Norwich (0-3, 0-1 PL) wraps up its four-game roadtrip at Pilgrim League opponent Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday.
