| ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth outscored LeMoyne 7-1 in the third quarter Tuesday to break
a 7-7 halftime tie and went on to hand the visiting Dolphins their first defeat of the season in
men's lacrosse, 15-9.
Nazareth, ranked 10th nationally in Division III, evened its record at 2-2. LeMoyne, which gained the No. 1 ranking in Division II for the first time in its history earlier this week, is 3-1. Nazareth opened the third quarter with goals by Jarod Koopman (Waterloo HS/Waterloo, NY) and Josh Lewis (Corning East HS/Corning, NY) in the first 50 seconds. Lewis scored again at 2:18 to give Nazareth a 10-7 lead. After LeMoyne's Bobby Tulowiecki (Orchard Park HS/Orchard Park, NY) scored for LeMoyne, Nazareth closed the period with four straight goals -- two by Jeff Monroe (Fayetteville-Manlius HS/Fayetteville, NY) to take a commanding 14-8 lead into the fourth quarter. Monroe, a senior midfielder, scored a career-best five goals to lead Nazareth. Lewis scored four times and senior midfielder Nick Miller (Fayetteville-Manlius HS/Manlius, NY) scored twice. Junior attackman Ryan Spillett (West Genesee HS/Camillus, NY) had four goals and one assist to lead LeMoyne and junior goalie Tom Kikmble (Orchard Park HS/Canandaigua, NY) made 17 saves. |
