The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior attackman Nate DeLone and sophomore midfielder Chris Aycock each scored three goals Wednesday for host Nazareth as the Golden Flyers outscored Alfred in an Empire 8 Conference men's lacrosse game, 11-6.

Nazareth snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Alfred is 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the E8. Nazareth is home again Saturday to host Hartwick in another conference game at 12 p.m.

The Golden Flyers controlled the Saxons statistically as freshman Drew Simoneau dominated the face-off x by winning 16 of 18 draws and scooping up seven ground balls. Nazareth also outshot Alfred 37-29 overall, including 16-3 in the first quarter to build a 4-0 lead.

Nazareth won all five first-quarter face-offs and had a 13-1 advantage in ground balls to take control early. Four different players scored, starting with the eighth goal of the season sophomore Trevar Haefele off a pass from sopjomore Collin Clark less than two minutes in.

Goals by C.J. Estes, John McDonnell and DeLone followed as Nazareth built an early lead. Aycock scored twice in the second quarter less than a minute apart as Nazareth extended its lead to 6-0. Alfred finally got on the board late in the second quarter on a man-up goal by senior Stefan Dabkowski, who netted his first of three goals.

Dabkowski scored again in the third quarter, but Nazareth countered with two goals by DeLone to extend the lead to 8-2 after three quarters. Fourth-quarter goals by Clark, Aycock and Simoneau closed out the Golden Flyers' scoring.

Junior Tim Doyle played all 60 minutes in goal for Nazareth and had eight saves and five ground balls. Sophomore Mark Pinski also won the only faceoff he took and scooped up seven ground balls. Junior midfielder Brian Wright had two assists.
