| NAZARETH DEFEATS WASHINGTON IN LACROSSE OPENER, 9-6
Sophomore attackman Bryan Coon scored a career-high five goals Saturday
and freshman midfielder Bryan Adams scored twice as Nazareth opened its
men's lacrosse season with a 9-6 victory over seventh-ranked Washington
College.
Coon scored three times in the first half as the Golden Flyers, ranked 11th nationally, were building a 5-2 lead. The Golden Flyers then got third-period goals from Coon, Adams and Erik Sullivan then Coon scored again 45 seconds into the fourth quarter as the Golden Flyers extended their advantage to 9-3. Washington scored three times in the fourth quarter, but Nazareth goalie Don Green made nine of his 13 saves over the final 15 minutes to preserve the the victory. In addition to Coon and Adams, Nazareth got one goal and two assists from senior attackman Justin Wahl and senior midfielder Jim Quacknebush added one assist and won 14 of 17 face-offs. Brent Renner scored three goals for Washington (0-2) and Michael Dyal contributed one goal and two assists. |
