The Game Story:
DALLAS, TX -- Western New England's Scott Kukis scored with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to help the Golden Bears edge Nazareth 10-9 in a non-conference men's lacrosse game played at Dallas, Texas. The Golden Flyers held a 5-1 lead midway through the second quarter, but Western New England outscored Nazareth 8-4 in the second half, including 3-1 in the fourth quarter, to rally for the victory.

The 12th-ranked Golden Flyers fall to 3-2 with the loss, and the 15th-ranked Golden Bears improve to 3-1 following the victory.

Matt McAnneny put Western New England on the board just 12 seconds into the game, but Nazareth answered with five consecutive goals. Junior Mike Cummings tied the score 1-1 with 12:07 remaining in the first quarter with an unassisted goal. After eight scoreless minutes, junior Erinn O'Hara put the Golden Flyers ahead with an another unassisted goal. Nazareth junior Kyle Brown stretched the Golden Flyers' first quarter lead to two goals after scoring off a pass from junior Mark DeCirce.

Cummings found the back of the net twice with two unassisted goals in the first 6:47 of the second quarter to extend Nazareth's lead to 5-1. Jared Pabis cut the Golden Flyers' lead to three goals, 5-2, as he scored the Golden Bears' third goal of the game with 9 seconds left in the second quarter.

Western New England opened the second half with a goal to cut Nazareth's lead to 5-3, but sophomore Joe Jacobs-Ferderbar answered for Nazareth about two minutes later to reclaim the Golden Flyers' three-goal advantage. The Golden Bears tallied the next three goals, spanning 4:09 to tie the game 6-6 with 5:48 left in the third quarter. Freshman John McDonnell reclaimed Nazareth's lead with a goal off a another pass from DeCirce.

The Golden Bears' Tim Santye and the Golden Flyers' Jacobs-Ferderbar traded goals to end the third quarter to give Nazareth an 8-7 lead going into the final quarter. Western New England's Nick Jez tied the game with a goal 2:16 into the fourth, then gave the Golden Bears the lead about five minutes later with his third goal of the game.

Jacobs-Ferderbar appeared to send the game into overtime as he tied the score 9-9 with 28 seconds remaining, but Kukis scored 17 seconds later to win the game for Western New England.

Junior Todd Dermody recorded a game-high 20 saves for the Golden Flyers while Brewster Knowlton tallied 17 saves to earn the victory for the Golden Bears.

Nazareth held a 50-38 advantage in shots and a 33-23 advantage in ground balls. The Golden Flyers also had a 12-11 edge in faceoffs. The Golden Bears finished 22-23 on clearing attempts as opposed to 19-26 for the Golden Flyers.
