New England College vs. Colby

The Game Story:
HENNIKER, N.H. – Colby College's Greg McKillop (Washington, D.C.) would net four goals and dished out three assists leading the Mules past the New England College Pilgrims 10-6 in men's lacrosse action Monday afternoon.

With the win the Mules improve to 2-1 on the season, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-4 overall.

NEC would net the first three goals of the game, including two by James Putney (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), giving the Pilgrims the 3-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the opening half. Colby would respond as the Mules would net two goals in the final 15 seconds of the half cutting the lead to 3-2 NEC heading into halftime.

The Colby offense would explode in the third quarter of play as the Mules would record six unanswered goals, including four from McKillop, to go up 8-3 at the start of the fourth quarter of play.

Colby would extend their lead to 9-3 as Ian Deveau (Portsmouth, R.I.) would score his second of three goals on the afternoon just two minutes in. The Pilgrims would close out the game outscoring the Mules 3-1 but it would not be enough as Colby would hold on for the 10-6 victory.

Leading the way for NEC was James Putney who finished with two goals and an assist and Brian Gillis (North Vancouver, B.C.) who netted two goals for the Pilgrims.

Colby College finished the game 1-for-4 on the man-up opportunities, while NEC finished the game 2-for-6 on man-ups.
Picking up the win in goal for Colby College was Peter Reiley (Marblehead, Mass.) who finished with 11 saves. In goal for NEC was Nick Aquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.) who recorded seven saves.
