New England College vs. Maine-farmington

The Game Story:
HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College men's lacrosse will advance to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinals as the Pilgrims beat the visiting University of Maine Farmington Beavers 27-0 in NAC Quarterfinal action Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 10-6 overall and will host the fourth seeded Maine Maritime Academy Mariners on Wednesday, May 5, time is yet to be determined. With the loss the Beavers finish their season with an overall record of 2-11.

The Pilgrims would jump out to a 10-0 lead in the opening half and never look backed tacking on eight goals in both the second and third quarters en route to the eventual 27-0 victory.
NEC finished the afternoon out shooting Farmington 67-8 and held the 44-22 advantage in the ground ball column.

Leading the way for the Pilgrims was Steve Parsons (Townsend, Mass.) who netted five goals and had two assists, while Brian Gillis (North Vancouver, B.C.) tacked on five goals and an assist. NEC's James Putney (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) dished out a game-high five assists to go along with a goals, while Sam Freihofner (Scarsdale, N.Y.) tallied three goals and two assists.

Leading the way for Farmington was Mike Foley (Byfield, Mass.) who had a great day on defense recording three caused turnovers and eight ground balls.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Nick Aquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.). Farmington keeper Ben Altmaier (Wilton, Maine) finished with 11 saves in relief of starter Hunter Rowell (West Paris, Maine) who notched eight saves.
